Day by day, the business grew. They developed their promising business and enlarged the farm into 450 acres which then was named Tree Mendus Fruit Farm. In 1969, their son, Herb and his wife Liz inherited the farm from their parents. The farm started to reach the success in 1972. Since that time, from generation to generation, the farm has been continuing to reach the success. The apple varieties are Red Delicious, Mutsu, Jonagold, Golden Delicious, Red Rome, Jonathan, McIntosh and Holiday, while the tree sizes range from dwarfed (6-8 feet tall), semi-dwarfed to standard sized trees (20 feet tall). The price starts from $30 up to $150 for each tree. The prices depend on a tree’s 5-year estimated average production, the variety, size, shape, condition and location of each tree. In the harvest time, you can enjoy the production from your rented tree. However, Tree Mendus Fruit Farm does not guarantee the volume and the quality of the fruit produced. If you want to rent a tree, contact Tree Mendus Farm on July, 1st of each year at the latest. Renewing the contract is due to July, 1st as well. Make sure that you come on the late of September or the early of October to harvest the apples produced.
Tree Mendus fruit Farm always holds annual spectacular competition. It is called International Cherry-Pit Spitting Championship. Next year, the competition will be held on July, 6th, 2013. The participants should spit the cherry pit as far as possible. Last year winner, Mr. Matt, aged 46, could spit the pit 69 feet away from the starting position. All ages and genders are allowed to join this spit-tacular championship.
